This is the second quarter of a year long course on the foundations of algebraic geometry. The primary focus this quarter will be on the study of cohomology of coherent sheaves.
PROFESSOR OF MATHEMATICS
Grading: No exams. Based on homework and a final report.
Homework: There will be weekly homework. You are encouraged to work in groups but solutions must be written independently. It is extremely important to do homeworks to have a solid grasps of materials.
Possible topics: Homological algebra, Serre's criterion of affine schemes, category of coherent sheaves on projective spaces, finiteness of coherent cohomology along proper morphisms, flat and smooth morphisms, Grothendieck-Serre duality, and so on and so forth.
No specific textbook. But some homework problems will be picked up from Hartshorne's algebraic geometry.
