COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course covers selected topics in linear and non-linear functional analysis.  Abstract theorems will be illustrated by specific examples from PDE and calculus of variations.  Possible topics include, for instance, basics of Banach space theory and operator theory, fixed point theorems, the implicit function theorem and bifurcation theory.  The choice of material will be based on the interests and prerequisites of the participants.
