COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course is an elementary introduction to knot theory.  We will study the combinatorial and topological aspects of knots and links in the 3-space.  The focus will be the construction and applications of some knot invariants, including the determinant and signature, Seifert form, knot polynomials, and knot homology.


PREREQUISITES

Prerequisites:  Ma 109, Ma 105.
