Course Description
  Top

We consider quantum mechanical systems with many particles described by the Schrodinger equation. While this is far from being solvable analytically or numerically, there exist approximations (Hartree theory for bosons and Thomas-Fermi theory for fermions) that are asymptotically correct and that we will discuss in detail. Further topics include the HVZ theorem and stability of matter.
